My Story

Art runs in the family - my dad was a commercial artist for Western Auto. My aunt was an art professor at the University of Kansas and a well-known artist in Mexico. I began painting early in life, going to art clinics with my dad and painting for family and for fun. I took a break from painting to pursue a career in law enforcement and raise a family. After 28 years, I retired and took up painting again.

I paint in acrylics, then finish with oils. I look to nature for inspiration - the way color and light both complement and contrast with each other to create the perfect balance. This is the technique I use to create my artwork. I have painted in impressionism but prefer landscape and wildlife.

I work with the Leavenworth County Council on Aging to teach art classes monthly to our seniors. I believe there is an inner artist in everyone, and I enjoy sharing my passion for art with others. Watching my students create their own art and realize their own talent brings me joy and inspiration. I truly believe I was given this talent to share with others.

Using what God gave me to give back to my community.
